Crytek offers hint about when the sequel will arrive

Crysis 2 is two to three years away, if comments from the Crytek boss are anything to do by. And why wouldn't they?

Quote
"...the biggest lessen learned from our previous games is to focus on efficiency in your organization," Yerli said in reference to Far Cry and Crysis at Imagina 2008 in Monaco, adding, "The deployment of this efficiency is critical. I believe we will release our next game quicker than Crysis, so I estimate a two to three year cycle."
In November 2007 we reported on Yerli letting slip that Crysis is designed as a trilogy. Crytek's said previously that one of the goals with the second game is to evolve the series' graphical punch.

Yerli also revealed that a Crysis movie is "definitely planned". We'll take a 'wait and see' approach for that one...

Valve has it down to a fine art now with the episodic HL2 story. Take some notes Crytek.

You are right Cheesy

Though games these days take around 2-3years. Crytek is awesome and they really take time with these games to make them the best possible. So 2-3 years of a wait seems right Cheesy

Great.. so my computer that can run crysis on high now wont even be able to run their next game on medium.  They'll be expecting you to have an 8 core processor by then.  Cant wait.

I was guessing that.
I am guessing Crysis 2 will use an upgraded version of the Cryengine 2.

Crysis had poorer sales due to high system reqs and probably Crytek was burned for it to some extent. So I would expect them to have more easier system reqs on the next one. Or not?

I don't think they would.
They might be the same as Crysis 1 or a little above.
Hardware and Technology will change ALOT in the next 2-3 years.

Plus, I can't wait for Crysis 2 Cheesy  I can't wait for quite a few games right now actually! Tongue

Crysis has over a million sales now. It is officially a platinum game, and was the 2nd best selling PC game last year.
I would say they did pretty good.

Haven't you seen those projects people do with cryengine 2 like the sony commercial. They don't need to make a new engine or anything just maxmize the capabilites of the already cryengine 2!

considering they did absoulutely no advertising. they have done bloody good IMO. i am still undecided whether i want crysis/crytek to have mega sales and money, or have relatively smaller sales. with more sales = more money for the gaming industry. smaller sales = less hype and crysis feels a little more "personal" if you know what i mean (no?).

i would love if crytek expand their office and create other games away from the FPS games.

And with two years for hardware to catch up, I think it very well could be higher system reqs.
