Crysis Warhead Q&A - Get your questions in now!
«

Crytek Alex has just let us know that that they will be going over various fan forums (Like ours!) and checking to see what questions they can answer for a Q&A session.
All you've got to do is leave a message below with your question. We will be leaving this thread open even after the interview has been published as Crytek will be answering more questions in the future. The first set of questions will end 16th of June, so if you posted after that, your questions may not be answered. Also, Crytek will be choosing several questions, but not all of them. So don't get angry if your question isn't answered, they already have hundreds or thousands submitted.
Please leave your questions below for Crytek to see!

Have you rewritten the core code of CE2 to make it more optimized? If not how have you optimized it?

What measures have you taken to help reducing hacking/cheating in the multiplayer, and what's the status on whether we'll see an autodownloader for custom content (maps, models, etc) in multiplayer?

Are the performance claims circling around true about how optimized Warhead is?
Will it run on High settings across the board, 1280x1024, with an 8600GT, 2 GB RAM, E6600, at an average of 30 FPS or more?
Will there be fire prorogation? Will we be able to dual wield different weapons; like a pistol in one hand and a sub machine gun in the other?
Is everything stated in the recent PC Gamer magazine articles true?

how many levels will be in warhead and where the first mission will take place?
Answer: Psycho leaves Nomad at the end of Assault - Harbor, so his level will start parallel when Nomad drives the Tank.
Do you plan to release a demo and when?

Remember; make your questions as descriptive as possible so your question can be answered correctly.
Will the performance be better at higher resolutions? Better than what? Say.. Crysis as it is now?
Yeah I meant, in the original Crysis the performance took a tremendous hit when cranking up the resolution.
So my question is: Will Crysis: Warhead offer a better performance on higher resolutions than the original Crysis?

Will the game be using Games for Windows - LIVE for its multiplayer infrastructure or Gamespy or something else?

- Crytek, are you ready to give us an approximation of the game's duration? Will it be longer than Crysis?
Answer: 8-12 hours of gameplay
- Will there be new multiplayer game modes or you simply take over Crysis' multiplayer ? (That would be a waste to not include the old maps...)
- Will Crysis: Warhead feature a new soundtrack? Is Inon Zur still your composer ?
- We're pretty excited about the new engine improvements, could please tell us a few? (Bigger texture resolution, tidal waves, improved lighting, improved particles *they already owns other games*, better animations *a goal that Crytek often said was unachieved in Crysis*.)
- Still about technical improvements, is the sound affected by the newest changes to the engine?
- Is the game broader and less path-driven, less linear? (Even though I never thought Crysis was much linear.)
- We heard that the game was action-packed, what can we expect of that?
I don't know if I have other questions.

^What the man said above me.^
And you said recently that the game will be playable on a $600 computer with a consistent 30 frames a second. So if we can play it on that low-end machine what image quality will we loose from the first installment of Crysis? What did you take out of the CryEngine 2 to achieve these frames?

-Will we have a pre-release demo of Crysis Warhead a month or two before the actual release, just like Crysis?
-Going by the standard of an 8800GT 512MB, how much of a performance increase will Crysis Warhead have over Crysis?
-Will we see an official team instant action gametype for multiplayer?
-Do you have a release date already planned or do you have an approximate date which Crytek plans on getting this game out the door (Q4 2008? Q1 2009?)?
-Will we see any significant gameplay tweaks or adjustments? Will the nanosuit functions remain the same or will they be altered for balancing issues?
-Will there be any new information about Crysis' story line revealed in Crysis Warhead or will we be seeing mostly the same from the original Crysis except from a different viewpoint?
-Will we see any new maps for Crysis' multiplayer or will they be mostly the same as the original Crysis (Mesa, Shore, etc)?
-Will the new weapons & vehicles be available for Crysis Warhead's multiplayer?

- How do you plan solve the HUGE problem of hacking that we see in Crysis?
- What, if any, new multiplayer modes will be incorporated in Crysis: Warhead?
- In the singleplayer campaign, will we be primarily fighting Koreans? Aliens? Or a mixture?
- Will the singleplayer campaign include any group/squad fights, as opposed to the primarily individual fighting style seen in Crysis?
- What will your approach be to DirectX 10? Will some features be Vista-exclusive like we saw in Crysis? Or will you make everything compatible with Windows XP?
- Will Crysis: Warhead even have support for Windows XP?
- What will you do to fix the piracy problems that we saw in Crysis? Will it be an annoyance to those of us who actually buy games legally?
Thanks CryAlex and everyone at Crytek. I appreciate your commitment to the community and your desire to make a good game that everyone will enjoy.

Since you confirmed that low end Desktop PCs can run Crysis on High Settings on average 30-35fps, will this optimization be patched into the first Crysis with a patch 1.3?
