Politics Banned
- 30th Aug  [by
Flamed up
]
After a few weeks with allowed politics discussions, I've come to the conclusion that it will be banned once more. For some of you this may be upsetting, but I assure you I wouldn't ban politics again if it wasn't a 100% necessary.
The last few days have reminded me why politics were banned in the first place. While the discussions may be civil as far as the literary meaning goes, frustration is always being built up between those who argue. No one has a sincere desire to absorb what the other part is saying, and are only trying to "win" the debate. It's just two walls going at it, which in the end will accomplish nothing but recent towards one another. Lately I've noticed a unusual amount of frustrated behavior behind the scenes from a number of members, despite the arguments being fairly civil. That same frustration escalated today.
This means I will not waste another second contemplating weather or not to allow politics, the downhill gets steeper the longer I wait. So from this point forth, politics are once again banned, and will never be tolerated throughout the remainder of this forums lifespan. All politics threads will be locked shortly after this post has been made.
Thank you.

Hey Crysis-Online!
When I stripped the old inactive moderators of their rank in the beginning of this year, I left a window open for them to get back in provided the situation was right and they have become active once more. This is such a occasion, and HitmanJustin is the one being promoted.
So without further delay, I present you to the newest/oldest addition to the admin team.

[Dev Blog] GC 2008 Begins!
- 20th Aug  [by

GC has started off today, and to celebrate Cry-Eddy/Alex have posted some new pictures of their booth at GC on the Warhead Devblog:
"After many hours of travel, we've finally made it and after even more hours of setting up (which was definitely no easy task!) we're ready and we are finally prepared to give the public their first hands on experience with Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars.
So it was a tough day yesterday (Tuesday) and everything is now going smoothly this morning, so we're hoping to see lots of you come in and visit us. Just to wet your appetite we decided to take a run around the massive 5 halls of the venue, and we've included plenty of pictures of us as we've been busy setting up our booths all day (some serious, some funny)."

Crytek: New Engine in 2012
- 19th Aug  [by
Blablah
]
"Speaking at Games Convention Developers Conference 2008 in Leipzig, Germany, Crytek CEO and President Cevat Yerli said the studio's next engine should be ready for sometime in 2012. As of right now, he says, the degree to which graphics can represent real-life is bottlenecked by a lack of new hardware. He says GPU and CPU technology are converging, evident in the new technologies in development at Nvidia and ATI, as well as what Intel's doing with Larrabee. Until the growing trend of CPU and GPU convergence is more defined, developers will have to focus on increased graphical stylization as well as more advanced physics and AI programming.
Crytek's previous engines include the CryEngine 1, which powered the first-person shooter Far Cry in 2004, and CryEngine 2, which was used for Crysis as well as the upcoming Crysis Warhead. Yerli believes this engine technology will be more than sufficient in powering games through 2012, when he expects Microsoft and Sony to release their new consoles.
Development in the future will require studios to more effectively streamline their production processes, both on the technical and office workflow side of things. In five years, Yerli seemed confident that real-time gaming graphics will match current CGI offline rendering. As of right now, Crytek is still working to increase efficiency with its CryEngine 2 for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 platforms. Yerli mentioned that the PlayStation 3 required an extra degree of work, but the company is convinced it's worth the effort to get the engine running properly on Sony's platform.
In the latter part of 2009 is when Yerli expects Crytek to begin full production in its next engine, which will be tailored for development across multiple platforms. Until then, he's excited by the gameplay possibilities that may become possible as developers focus on technical aspects aside from graphical realism, though he didn't go into many specific examples of what was possible."
